Tips for skillful taping knife use

Use your taping knife and putty knife carefully
Taping knife and putty knife blades have sharp corners and edges that can inflict cuts and cause injuries. Carefully handle, use and clean these tools. Always keep surface preparation tools out of the reach of children and pets.

Use a taping knife with a flexible blade

Apply joint compound using the taping knife at approximately a 45-degree angle to the surface

Keep your wrist flexible

Apply joint compound with only one side of the taping knife blade

Re-center joint compound after every few strokes

Gradually increase the amount of joint compound on your taping knife blade

Remove dried joint compound from taping knife and mud tray

Clean and dry the taping knife and putty knife after use
